6K Additive says it has broken ground on a major Burgettstown manufacturing campus expansion funded by a federal grant and IPO proceeds.
6K Additive says it has broken ground on a major expansion of its manufacturing campus in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania.
In an April 7 announcement, the company said the groundbreaking took place on March 30 on a 45-acre expansion site. 6K Additive said the project is being funded by a $23.4 million Defense Production Act Title III grant and proceeds from its Australian Stock Exchange IPO.
The company said the expansion is designed to increase annual powder production capacity from 200 metric tons to a target of 1,000 metric tons. The planned campus buildout includes new facilities for alloy storage, melting, pre- and post-processing, refractory metals and related operations.
6K Additive also said the project could create more than 17 skilled jobs and about 37 construction jobs. The company has framed the expansion as part of a broader industrial buildout tied to domestic metal production.
A U.S. Department of Defense release previously confirmed the $23.4 million award and said the company expected to reach full-rate production at the Burgettstown facility by the end of 2026.
The new announcement marks a shift from planning to construction as the campus expansion moves forward.
