John Schneider was ejected after arguing a balk call on Kevin Gausman as the Blue Jays lost 4-1 to the Dodgers and dropped a sixth straight.
John Schneider was ejected in the fifth inning of the Blue Jays' loss to the Dodgers after arguing a balk call on Kevin Gausman.
Toronto went on to lose 4-1 on Tuesday night, extending its losing streak to six games.
The disputed call came with Dodgers runner Hyeseong Kim on base. After the balk ruling, Kim advanced and later scored on an Alex Freeland single, helping Los Angeles take control of the game.
Postgame, Schneider said the call was “definitely was not a balk,” while Gausman said he believed he had used a slide step and that the ruling was wrong.
The ejection added another frustration to a difficult stretch for the Blue Jays, who have struggled to stop their slide against Los Angeles.
Multiple reports, including Sportsnet and an AP/ESPN recap, confirmed the ejection and the sequence that led to it.
