Trump sharpened and extended his threat against Iran, with Axios reporting a new Tuesday deadline and AP noting pressure over the Strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump has sharpened his threat to strike Iran’s infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, with new reporting adding both a specific target list and a later deadline.

AP first reported that Trump threatened to hit Iran’s critical infrastructure if the strait is not reopened. Axios later reported that Trump told the outlet the U.S. is in negotiations and that he would strike Iranian power plants and bridges if no deal is reached.

Axios also said Trump extended his deadline to Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET, moving beyond the earlier Monday timeframe reported by AP. That makes the threat more concrete and gives the standoff a narrower window.

Iran’s mission to the U.N. said the threats against civilian infrastructure amount to incitement to terrorize civilians and could constitute a war crime, AP reported.

The latest escalation underscores how the dispute over the Strait of Hormuz is moving from broad warnings to a more explicit target set and deadline. The key unknown now is whether the deadline changes again or whether any diplomatic channel produces a breakthrough before it expires.
