A warning strike on Augsburg’s transit network disrupted buses and trams on April 7, with official guidance saying most swa service stopped.
A warning strike hit Augsburg’s public transport network on Tuesday, April 7, largely stopping buses and trams operated by Stadtwerke Augsburg, known as swa.
The Augsburg public transport association AVV said the swa network would largely come to a standstill and that buses and trams were expected to remain in depots. AVV said the strike did not affect regional buses or regional trains.
Local reporting on the day said most swa vehicles were still in the depot in the morning, with only a few contracted bus lines continuing to run. The reports also said swabi bikes were available free during the strike.
The strike was called by the trade union ver.di as part of an ongoing tariff dispute and was described as the fourth warning strike in the conflict.
AVV issued operational guidance for passengers ahead of the stoppage, and the disruption was still visible throughout the day.
For commuters, the main impact was the near-total loss of local swa bus and tram service, with only limited alternatives still available.
