The Election Commission of India released supplementary West Bengal voter lists on April 22, including voters cleared by appellate tribunals ahead of first-phase polling on April 23.
The Election Commission of India released supplementary voter lists for West Bengal on April 22, updating the rolls a day before the state’s first phase of polling.
The revision comes after appellate tribunal clearances for voters whose cases were decided in time. Reports said the release was meant to clarify who is eligible to vote in the opening phase on April 23.
The Indian Express reported that the first phase of the supplementary list included 139 voters. Hindustan Times said the commission published two lists: voters included after tribunal clearance and voters deleted for want of clearance.
The update follows Supreme Court directions that allowed last-minute inclusion of voters cleared through the appellate process. It also comes as the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer’s SIR 2026 portal hosts supplementary and deletion roll resources for the final roll.
The immediate focus is the first phase of polling on April 23. A second phase is scheduled for April 29.
The supplementary list is the latest election-eve update to the voter roll, aimed at settling eligibility before ballots are cast.
