Ofcom says fee-liable online services must notify it by April 11, while CARB’s SB 253 workshop comment window now shows a June 1 deadline.

Two regulatory deadlines are now in view for companies navigating UK online-safety and California climate-reporting rules.

Ofcom says fee-liable providers under the UK online safety fees regime must notify the regulator by 11 April 2026. The watchdog says the notification portal is live and the fees regime is active for the 2026/27 charging year.

In parallel, California’s Air Resources Board is still working through its SB 253 climate-disclosure process. CARB held a workshop on 23 March 2026, and its public comments page now shows the workshop comment period running through 1 June 2026.

That June 1 date is the latest official posting, and it differs from some legal briefings published earlier in the process that described a 13 April comment deadline. The safest reading is that CARB’s own website now reflects the most current deadline.

DLA Piper’s March sustainability bulletin and other legal updates confirmed the SB 253 workshop was focused on reporting and assurance requirements, but their earlier comment-window references are now out of date compared with CARB’s public page.

The combined picture is one of fast-moving compliance calendars: UK platforms need to complete Ofcom’s notice process by 11 April, while California climate-reporting stakeholders should work to CARB’s updated June 1 comment deadline.

For companies operating in both markets, the practical message is simple: verify which deadline controls on the latest official website before filing.
