Publishers Weekly’s April 3 rights roundup highlights several book deals, including Kensington’s move on Melissa K. Roehrich’s series, Spiegel & Grau’s deal for Hannah Morrish and Mira’s preempt of Brooke Shaden’s debut duology.

Publishers Weekly’s weekly rights roundup for April 6, published on April 3, highlights several new publishing deals spanning fantasy, literary fiction and debut work.

Among the biggest announcements, Kensington acquired North American rights to Melissa K. Roehrich’s Fallen series in a four-book deal. Kensington’s site now points readers to The Legacy Series, confirming the publisher’s partnership with Roehrich on the property.

The roundup also said Spiegel & Grau preempted Such Stuff, a two-book deal from Hannah Morrish, with publication set for spring 2027. Morrish’s literary agency lists Such Stuff as a forthcoming Sceptre title in 2027 and identifies it as her debut novel.

Another notable deal in the roundup was Mira’s preempt of Brooke Shaden’s debut duology, including Once Through the Heart. Shaden’s website says the novel is her debut fantasy book and had been on submission before the PW report.

Publishers Weekly’s roundup is a routine industry snapshot, but this week’s list points to continued appetite for fantasy and debut voices across major houses. The reporting also reflects how much of the deal-making now gets confirmed only when publisher, agency or author pages begin to reflect the new rights arrangements.

The full roundup includes additional acquisitions and publication plans for 2027 and beyond.
