Gangurrus ready for World Cup tip-off

Australia’s men’s and women’s Gangurrus have started their FIBA 3x3 World Cup campaigns in Warsaw, with Basketball Australia confirming the teams opened play overnight AEST.

The tournament runs from June 1 to 7 in Poland and has brought the sport’s top 3x3 nations together for a week of group-stage and knockout action. FIBA’s official previews had already placed Australia in the field ahead of tip-off.

Basketball Australia’s same-day update marks the first live step in the campaign after the squads were announced earlier in May. The governing body and FIBA both confirmed Warsaw as the host city and June 1 as opening day.

Australia’s women’s team is listed in Pool B alongside Spain, the United States, Mongolia and Hungary. Further match reports and any roster or injury updates are expected as the tournament continues.

The Gangurrus now move into the rest of the opening rounds in Warsaw, with Australia’s results over the coming days set to determine how far both teams can progress.
