The Rangers made a pregame roster shuffle on June 1, selecting Robby Ahlstrom’s contract from Triple-A Round Rock and recalling Cody Freeman before facing the Cardinals in St. Louis.
The Texas Rangers finalized a cluster of roster moves on June 1 before their game against the St. Louis Cardinals, selecting left-hander Robby Ahlstrom’s contract from Triple-A Round Rock and recalling infielder/outfielder Cody Freeman.
Ahlstrom was in line for his major league debut after being promoted from Round Rock. Freeman returned to the big league roster after a recent rehab and option sequence.
The Rangers also recalled right-hander Luis Curvelo, optioned Gavin Collyer, placed Sam Haggerty on the bereavement/family medical emergency list, placed Chris Martin on the 15-day injured list retroactive to May 31 with right shoulder impingement, and transferred Robert Garcia to the 60-day injured list.
The transaction batch came ahead of Texas' series opener in St. Louis and reflected the club's need to reshape the active roster for the day game.
