Long-term opium use linked to floppy iris during cataract surgery
A study of 1,722 patients found intraoperative floppy iris syndrome in 223, or 13.0%, during phacoemulsification. Long-term opium use was associated with higher odds, alongside alpha-blocker use, pseudoexfoliation syndrome and increasing age.
