Butterfly study links early reproductive isolation to many DNA regions
Researchers combined a pangenome, chromatin-accessibility data and simulations to examine how mutational, regulatory and structural differences may contribute to reproductive isolation while populations exchange genes. The analysis found candidate regions in both adjacent comparisons, but no consistent chromatin signal in the two hybrid zones.
