AI model reconstructs liquid-metal flow from sparse sensors

A shallow recurrent decoder reconstructed simulated three-dimensional liquid-metal flow fields from sparse, noisy temperature measurements, producing estimates in less than a second after training. Errors were generally low, but some high-field cases produced larger pressure and velocity errors, and the test was limited to a simplified computational model.

Computer model handles changing-stiffness plates, but distorted meshes trip some versions

A five-case computational study tested a high-order virtual element framework for variable-stiffness plates with complex shapes. VC-VEM variants and standard self-stabilized VEM maintained good accuracy when fiber orientation varied, while standard stabilized VEM lost accuracy as approximation order increased and produced incorrect buckling loads or mode shapes in some distorted-mesh cases.
